World Health Day: Get Fit!

In celebration of World Health Day, we tell you a little more about our favourite way to keep fit...

Oban fitness

It's quite simple really - to keep healthy, all  you need to do is eat right and do a little exercise. Of course, it's more comfortable to sit in front of the T.V. with a big bag of crisps,  but that's hardly going to do you any good. Being around nature is something that really inspires us to keep active and most of all, have fun with fitness. Here are a few suggestions to keep active in Oban...

Oban isn't necessarily known as the hill-iest of places, but it's never short of views that will simply take your breath away. If you want a quick walk, take a stroll up to the historic McCaigs tower. If you fancy more of a challenge, Ben Lora is just a few miles north of Oban and takes roughly around 2 hours to complete. For those who really want a challenge, there are frequent transport links to Glencoe, Ben Nevis and Munro - suitable for those with real navigation experience.

Bike Hire
As mentioned, a lot of Oban is actually quite flat, so it's the perfect place to go cycling. Whether it's along the promenade or further along, there are options for every level. If you don't have a bike with you, there are various places to hire a bicycle such as Oban Cycles or RCS Cycles just a short distance from the town centre. Make sure to wear a helmet!

If you prefer to keep sheltered from the elements, the Atlantis Leisure Centre has various fitness options available. Go swimming, head to the gym or take part in one of their great fitness classes including Bodyattack, Metafit and Zumba.

Find out more information on the official Oban website for fun activities that will keep you fit!
